The Year That Was

I'm not usually one to welcome the New Year with a bang. I admit it's not my favorite holiday but since 2007 has been quite a noteworthy year, I might as well catalog the circumstances (in my boring life) of the year that was.

- I turned 30 (Good Lord, now my siblings call me 'old')
- I suffered an early mid-life crisis (depression, waterworks, drama, the works)
- I started blogging
- I read more of Capote, Kundera, Kazantzakis, biographies, and autobiographies: and less of Coelho, Gibran, Morrison, and fashion magazines
- I had 12.5 inches of hair cut off
- I exercised less
- And for the first time in my life, I actually enjoyed having friends

I don't believe in resolutions either. Seriously, resolving to do something doesn't necessarily guarantee you'd actually DO it.

In place of resolutions here's a wishlist of well, wishes and hopes for the year ahead:

- Patience, patience, patience (Dear Lord, I need a lot :)
- Fuseless temper (if only for Joel & my kids)
- Wisdom, courage, temperance, fortitude (you know the rest)
- A large throat to swallow a terrible amount of pride
- An insane amount of luck (When, oh when am I going to win the lottery???)
- Distinction, merit, the works (I don't know what for and with what though)
- A Chanel 2.55 or another Balenciaga City
- A full-time job

Happy New Year to all!!!!

I wish you a good year. And that everything you wish will fulfilled. Not everything that we think is bad is really bad (do you know that fable?) If everything good was really good, the good God would fulfill all our wishes, I hope. Or Santa at least. I think so. If not, we have to think, the good God or Santa do not exist at all. But it's not true. Or you don't think so? ;)))

Ivy! Welcome back from the Neverland of BlogWorld! It's nice to see you back. Excellent post! I couldn't have said it better. As for being old at 30? Hmmmm...do I EVER wish I was thirty again. :-)
I love your take on New Year's resolutions. I feel exactly the same way. Anyways, in the fear of sounding too common I'll stop. Ivy, I wish you all the best of health, happiness, success, luck, distinction and patience for this New Year 2008. Peace and happiness to you and your family.

welcome to my decade, ivy! LOL. i am finding that even tho its been excruciatingly painful, i am all the wiser for it. *lol* i think these really are our growing years!

your post was lovely. i really dont believe in "resolutions," either; however it always is a good time to re-evaluate my priorities, set some new goals (i do this pretty much every month. LOL.), and also to offer support to my friends. i'll specifically pray for your patience and temper!!! ((HUGS)))

may you have all the patience and (the big throat! :D) all the things you wish for this year..

Happy New Year!

ivy, ang edad eh numero lang. with your physical activities, your cell won't degenerate that fast (as usual for many women).
